Trinity Physiocare & Aquacure

Our services

Aquatic Therapy (Hydrotherapy)

Physiotherapy in our warm indoor pool

Aquatic therapy is physiotherapy carried out in water. Buoyancy takes weight off painful joints, warmth helps muscles relax, and the water’s gentle resistance lets you build strength and balance with less fear of falling.

Michelle is internationally certified in aquatic therapy (IATF, Switzerland), and the clinic has its own indoor therapy pool.

Who it can help

  • Osteoarthritis and joint pain
  • Back and neck pain
  • Before and after joint replacement or other surgery
  • Stroke, Parkinson’s and other neurological conditions
  • Children with cerebral palsy and developmental conditions
  • Balance problems and fear of falling
  • Sports injuries and return to training
  • Mobility and fitness in older adults

How water helps

Buoyancy

Takes load off your joints, so you can move further with less pain.

Warmth

Helps tight muscles relax and can ease stiffness.

Resistance

Every movement gently works your muscles, in every direction.

Pressure

Supports circulation and gives feedback that helps balance.

What your sessions involve

Everything starts with an assessment on land. If the pool is right for you, your physiotherapist plans an individual programme for you.

Sessions last about 30 minutes and are supervised, with your physiotherapist beside you in the water. We use floats, hand paddles, fins and other equipment to make exercises easier or harder. Many people combine pool sessions with treatment on land.

Questions about aquatic therapy

Do I need to know how to swim?

No. Exercises are done at a depth that suits you, with your physiotherapist beside you in the pool.

What should I bring?

Swimwear and a towel. We’ll tell you anything else you need when we confirm your appointment.

Is aquatic therapy suitable for everyone?

Not always. Open wounds, some infections, uncontrolled blood pressure or heart problems, and a few other conditions can mean the pool isn’t right for you. We check this at your assessment.
