Spine Care

Treatment for back and neck pain

Back and neck pain are among the most common reasons people see a physiotherapist. We take a whole-person approach, looking at posture, movement, work and lifestyle to find what is driving your pain, rather than only treating where it hurts.

Treatment combines hands-on care with exercise, so you understand your back and know how to look after it.

What your sessions involve

At your first visit we ask how the pain started, what makes it better or worse, and how it affects your day. We examine your spine and movement and check for any signs that need a doctor’s opinion.

You’ll leave knowing what we think is going on, what to do and what to avoid, and how your treatment will progress.

Questions about spine care

Should I rest when my back hurts?

Short rest can help in the first day or two, but staying gently active usually helps recovery. We’ll show you which movements are safe.

When should I see a doctor urgently?

Seek medical help straight away if back pain comes with numbness around the groin, loss of bladder or bowel control, new weakness in the legs, fever, or follows a serious fall or accident.

Do I need an MRI first?

Usually not. Most back pain can be assessed and treated without a scan. If we think you need one, we’ll tell you why.
